This one was just TOO hilarious!!!

Christian drug rehab vs Secular rehab

There are many kinds of rehabs available, which treat drug addiction. If the addict is not religious and doesn’t have any religious beliefs ten he has the option of selecting either secular rehabs or Christian drug rehabs. The rehabs are the centers of treatment where the addict is helped by the able staff and experienced professionals in recovering from the addiction.

What are the different possible options available that help an addict recover from drug addiction and how do they differ? This question is frequently encountered by the addict and his or her family members. There are many kinds of treatment centers available for treating an addict of his drug addiction. These rehabs can be broadly classified into secular rehabs, which don’t involve any kind of religious beliefs and teachings of God to help the addict overcome his addiction. The other kind of drug rehabs available is religious drug rehab. These drug rehabs employ various kinds of spiritual programs along with regular medication and medical methods in the treatment of the addict. Many people quit drinking and abusing drugs by using medical and therapeutic treatment methods alone.

Secular rehabs

Secular rehabs are the rehabs where the treatment is carried out only on the basis of medical science, which is good but not the best possible solution for the treatment of drug addicts. General medication alone cannot help the addict recover from the drug addiction completely. The main point which the secular rehabs forget when they design their medication programs is that drug addiction is a illness related not only to the physical body but also to the mind of the addict.

Various kinds of treatment procedures are employed in these treatment centers. Treatment procedures like detox treatment, pharmaceutical treatment etc is provided at these centers.

Usage of tranquillizers that help the addict calm down and usage of diet and vitamins that can help the addict have a more healthy body are the most common processes that are involved in detox treatment. The addict experiences many kinds of withdrawal symptoms during the period of detox treatment that could be very harmful.

Pharmaceutical treatment that is employed at these centers use high doses of medicines to treat the addicts which may lead the addict to dependency on medicines. This type of treatment may also lead to the addict recover from drugs and get addicted to medicines. Secular rehabs surely help the addicts treated from drug addiction but in many cases the fail in treating the way which would keep the addict away from drugs his whole life.

Christian drug rehabs

The other kinds of treatment centre available that can help the addict recover from the drug addiction are Christian drug rehabs. These rehabs are named in such a way because they use Christian ways of treatment along with the new treatment procedures to help the addict overcome his or her addiction. In Christian drug rehabs all the working staff believes that a healthy mind is required for an individual to overcome this serious addiction.

The treatment procedures that are designed in these rehabs help the addict recover from the addiction in a medical as well as spiritual way. The teachings of Jesus Christ and the holy scriptures of Bible are used to heal the addict in a way that would help not only in overcoming the addiction but also in emerging as a better human being. These rehabs also include programs such as individual counseling, group counseling, pastoral counseling, church visits etc to help the addict get rid of his or her addiction.

The programs used to treat the addict at these rehabs are very effective and help the addict overcome their addiction forever. The Christian drug rehabs also take the impact of drugs not only on the addict but also on his or her family members and friends into consideration and allow their active participation in various activities. The group counseling sessions help the addict get rid of suicidal tendencies and feelings of guilt and shame.

The Christian drug rehabs treat the addict in such a way that he never feels that he or she is away in some rehabilitation center. The addicts who have taken treatment at the rehabs do not undergo any kind of pressure due to the Christian drug rehabs. The peaceful and the serene environment that is provided by these rehabs help the addict gain tranquility and control over his or her life.

For a minute there, I thought YOU had written this article!
WOW...talk about DENIAL!!!
So, in essence, they are stating that rehabs of any kind are "great and effective", but the CHRISTIAN rehab offers something the "secular" rehabs do not, and that would be involving the family and stopping suicidal tendencies???

I take it this is an ad for a CHRISTIAN rehab? PLEASE tell me it is, and not just some moron ranting.
(I mean I am a ranting MORON, I admit it, but MY GOD (oops, I mean MY personal choice of a deity!) LOL
I am a true blue Catholic, born and bred, and I switched to Baptist, and now I am trying to learn the Buddhist way, and I gotta tell you, I am GRATEFUL to learn something about ALL religions and faiths.
I think it broadens our horizons
My son recently "graduated" a two week rehab. I say "graduated" because it was an extremely proud accomplishment for a kid that has not accomplished much of anything in many years.
He stuck it out, he did the chores, even ran some groups, AND he called me one night and told me he had accepted that there IS A God, and he wants Him in his life.
I was THRILLEd, but a little uneasy at the same time. I felt that maybe the treatment center was pushing a little hard. Do you think I am wrong ?
This is a kid who painted his hair green only AFTER getting a mohawk, who wasn't coming home at night, who was not coming home for days, 17 and a Junior in HS, and he leaned towards EVIL more than GOOD. I think it really was ANGER. (lots of issues in the family, me included, he bore the brunt of my addiction)
Anyways, that :GOD EPIPHANY has since dissapeared. I don't want to really ask him or pressure him about it, but I think that one CAN get treatment and live a happy and fufilling life just believing in the power of a GROUP to help them recover.
This is a rude awakening to how so many treatment places can steer a person in the wrong direction, and I DO consider myself a CHRISTIAN, so that is hard for me to say!
What do you , or anyone else, think of the 12 Steps? If there was a comittee or something to look at "re-vamping:" the 12 steps, would you join it? What would you change, if anything?
(this goes out to anyone)
I would be interested in hearing people's experiences about "GOD IN REHAN", especially people who are Atheists, or who never believed or even thought of God in their life before NA. AA.MMT, etc

I am changing my name to "RANTALOT"...can't seem to be concise and short..workin on it!
God Bless..whichever God you want..:)

I was born and raised a Catholic. Not that I had a choice.  Now , I do.
-No more of Father McFeely's little "pat and chat" sessions.........LOL.....sorry to Robin Williams for borrowing his "bit" there.
But , seriously, folks, isn't it great to HAVE a choice? So many people around the world do not.

My biggest problem with so many "Christian" things, is the judgmental crap.  I could literally rant forever about that.  I do not claim to be any particular religion because deep , deep in my heart, I know that God does not want me to be critical of, judging of, or hating of , those who belong to a religion that is different from mine.

I KNOW God is all about LOVE and acceptance. And likely wishes us to be the same.

If someone finds peace or sobriety through a Christian rehab, I am more than happy for them.

I went to teen challenge for a wholee freakiinnnn year, man was it lame. Just google teen challenge, it's not just teens it's an adult rehabilitation center that uses the bible, devotions, church and class they dont let you use tobacco and they are just money hungry, I relapsed the day I graduated the program, all they do is pretty much keep u there, you can't leave the property except for your pass. You get 4 total passes a year but it's be, they don't talk anything about addiction. I'd learn the same exact thing at bible school, seriously, so strict too, class every morn early, can't smoke ts such bs I couldn't stand it, if I was lucky to get the job I did by going there though, it's in a phone room, sell vacation packages for timeshare, that's th only thing that didn't make me go Crazy, I was court ordered back january 2010 lame as hellll. I'm a Christian to, they're just money hungry

I meant to include.

I suggest that much of what is going on outthere in the field of substance use treatment, is not treatment at all.

Let me suggest this article "Why Bogus Treatment Seem to work http://www.csicop.org/si/show/why_bogus_therapies_seem_to_work/

Clinician have been talking about evidence  based treatment (and assessment) for atleast 30 years.  Yet I see no evidence and find
that they are basically and most of them are ill prepared to implement such an approach.  They continuo to do and make shit up
in what is called Authoritative Pronouncements, (this is treatment because I say it is)
