My experience has been that BHG isn't so much of the problem (though many of the clinics they've acquired in TN seem "less personal" since their acquisition) as much as the STATE of Tennessee is getting in the way of proper treatment (at least for those who need doses higher than 100mgs)...
Zac, I am curious...because it seems like just when I have heard and processed one rule whether it be Tennessee State Methadone Authority Rule or it be a particular Tennessee clinic rule....up pops another one to hear and process.
In further explanation 8 callbacks a month? Is this a BHG Rule or a State Rule? I see the State being the proprietor of the "dose caps/peak and trough issue" but are the the issuer of the 8 callbacks? If so than you are right BHG isn't personalizing their ways of treatment but if it is a BHG rule I find it quite personal that by all means would be a strike against them in my book. iyswim....
I have had to come back and edit this a bit after I read it because Zac I feel like I try to negate anything positive you or anyone has to say about Tennessee and MMT. I really apologize at this inclination I have here to do this, but it is what it is...I can't find any true appreciation at all of how restrictive the State of Tennessee is on their own then when a clinic comes around and adds even more constraints to patients receiving the life saving, most effective, most needed and counterproductive if not effectively administered modality of opiate addiction treatment, I just can't look pass it and say the State is the responsible entity because they cheat patients from proper doses. Although I will admit that is the worst of all the injustices so they are the worst of the two as far as I am concerned.
The state does have one policy I have noted that is fair and impresses me and above all else surprises the hell out of me and I think all the clinics follow I would love to hear if it is a fact that all the clinics do follow the State's rule (which by way is in line with the federal rules/less restrictive) and that is the takehomes level/phase policy. I don't know too many states that allow 6 takehomes with 9 to 12 months of compliant treatment. Do BHG clinics allow this? Maybe that rule is the reason they are motivated for all the call backs....???Anyways I just wanted to say I by no means mean to throw a hammer in any of your post, I find you most beneficial and very much needed for the State of Tennessee MMT community, but I have a tendency to believe that if the State even becomes less restrictive after lobbying, advocacy work etc...will the clinics follow suit?
I hope you do not take offense to my asking for clarity or explanation in a post or reply of your...your opinion and information is very well respected by myself and many in this community. Thanking you for all you do.
