As most of u know, I got addicted via a Chronic Pain Management Contract 4 daily, severe headaches caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome (Hydrocephalus-OR-"Water on The Brain causing High Pressure). When I moved 2 where I live, NO doc would continue it and my "friends" knew ppl. Now that I've been on Suboxone (after tapering off a huge Methadone Dose), I'm tapering. Starting at 12mg, I tapered in 10 weeks down to 6mg. My headaches are getting unbareably worse. My Doc's Office is part of a System that is the ONLY 1 I could get into, due 2 being in Sub. Abuse Treatment AND Psych. This system REFUSES 2 do Narcotic Pain Mgmt, and would have 2 reffer me 2 an outside Pain Program. Methadone tabs 3x daily were what worked b4. I'd have to fight LIKE HELL, but we DO have "the right to pain reduction" here in Maine. Medicaid won't cover Subutex, except during pregnancy OR a life-threatening Naloxone Allergy! Is it worth the fight 4 Pain Mgmt, AND: Will the continued tapering of Sub cause my headaches 2 b even worse due 2 change in Naloxone Ratio?? They won't pay 4 additional Methadone CLINIC time, but Pain Mgmt thru a Doc is different.

The Naloxone could be possibly making the headaches worse, but I wouldn't have thought so given how long you've been on Suboxone now, I would have thought if it was going to be a problem, it would have happened before now, iyswim? The taper in itself and the stress could be what's adding to the headaches.

However, if they were what led to you using in the first place, i think you definitely need to fight for pain management, otherwise you're going to be at massive risk of relapse once you're off the Suboxone.

What does your Sub Dr say about it all?

So did you get off the methadone due to the 2 year limit Maine was enacting?

If so...this is terrible so addicts have a time limit they can get help for maintenance..or better yet there is no such thing as maintenance in Maine???
