I have been trying to incorporate myself back into the swing of things.....I have been thinking about the possibility of adding a facebook group to run in correlation of this forum...Of course with the assistance (hopefully) of myself, sapphire and Elephant Man I am thinking a Facebook Group/Member page might reach and help more people since Lefora changed the format of this forum and we are no ;longer as searchable and therefore find-able as we were prior to the Lefora Forum Update/Upgrade.

My fears run to the facts that misinformation gets spread thru these groups as People/Members hear fallacies in their clinic lines etc...and put those false facts on facebook group pages as if they are of the Gospel Truth and if a moderator is not reading every post every day multiple hours of the day these fallacies get spread as if they are facts.  My motivation to make a partner Facebook group to this forum is US growing with the times and utilizing Facebook as a place to educate people and direct them back to this forum for more one on one of a smaller more direct place to seek out and search for help and see resources and we have and can post here.  IT WILL NEVER REPLACE OR TAKE AWAY from this Forum as no matter how unsearchable or less and/or lost activity we face I WILL NEVER LET THIS FORUM become non-existent and I think I speak the same for Zenith, Sapphire and Eman, as the latter two have covered my absence brilliantly.

Please let me know what you guys think as I am going to begin the process of making the Facebook Group or page soon.  I hope and assume hopefully my fellow Moderators will keep moderating and of course in time we will need to add a few more.

I think, that as time moves along, the people that we'd want the message of the Dawg to reach, seem mostly to be on social media. I don't think there would be a problem with fallacies being propagated any more than on a regular message board, as long as someone is available to go on it once a day and moderate?

There are definitely still a lot of people out there that are interested in learning more, and in getting support relating to the clinic system, it's just that we need to be able to reach out to them now that the ways people use the Internet are changing.

I am definitely interested in trying this.

Will I be instructed on how to run a group???  I have seen some real mucked up rumors get passed along about pregnancy and methadone etc....It's a challenge and I need one right now in my life so I am going to do my best to establish a side by side facebook group along with this forum.  I hope you will help me sapphire and eman.  Oh a btw I can't open my mailbox or member profile....I can get in the login admin panel but not lefora page etc...I submitted a ticket.  Has that happened to anyone that you know of sapphire and/or Eman?

No, I've never had that problem before. I hope that Lefora are helpful, they haven't been that useful the last couple of times that I have had problems and submitted tickets!!

I do know what you mean though, there is some misinformation out there, and the group would need to be vigilantly moderated to keep on top of that.

I most definitely dont know how i feel about the whole social media idea but if it will help reach more people than im all for it. The good thing about it is, even on facebook everyone can still create a screen name just like the one they have here or even use the same screen name as the one here on the DAWG. I definitely believe its worth a shot. So i am by all means with you 100% @Wayover.

I honestly was not a fan of the whole Facebook/social media thing at first, but seeing how many people they can reach, I have changed my mind about it.

Yes, I think we should at least give it a try. Given that I am at a different time zone to you guys, I think that between the 3 of us we should be able to monitor it no problems. Of course if it (finger's crossed) takes off in a big way we can always add in more people to help.

I think there's definitely certain aspects that should be closed off from the public and certain aspects that should be open for the public so that we can continue getting newcomers. Im sure there will be many opinions on this particular subject, which is great because the more ideas the better.

@wayover: I believe approval of new members should be left up to admin/moderators bc we certainly dont want some random, brand new member come along and have the ability too approve anybody under the sun iykwim.... All it would take is 1 bad egg to come along and then approve all his/her little clan and stir up a whole mess of trouble. Im basically reffering to the trouble we've had in the past with certain groups of people. Not saying it would happen but you can never be too cautious, especially now that were giving social media a try.

Anyways, so far im liking it. I hope everyone else will take a liking to it as well!!

Take care!!

I think that only admins can approve people to join, otherwise we could have any old person just adding whoever they please, people that might upset the balance of hat the Dawg's all about.
